Hi guys!
Ruby here! Happy New Month! I am so excited. Being able to reach each and everyone of you is responsible for most of it; I’m loving our new newsletter home and I’m looking forward to learning more about you all and building our community.
How are you? How’ve you been since last week? What are you working on, or learning? You can let me know in the comments, or on Instagram and Twitter @lfa_ng, call 09059156251; or, if you are shy, pop us an email at hello@lfa.ng.
Either way, we’d love to hear from you!
Have you filled this survey for us yet? Please please do; we need a threshold number so we can conclude our research and we are almost there! It is about e-learning, which Miss Rona has caused us to embrace more and more. Join us in making history!
Alright. Let’s talk about the Green Room!
In show business, the green room is the space in a venue that functions as a waiting room and lounge for performers before, during and after a performance or show when they are not engaged on stage.
I like to think of it as safe space. A space to prepare, and to share, and to find support. Before, during and after any major creative pursuit. A book, a film, a podcast, a vlog, some spoken word, an ad, etc.
The color green relates to balance and harmony. From a color psychology perspective, it is the great balancer of the heart and the emotions, creating equilibrium between the head and the heart.
From a meaning of colors perspective, green is also the color of growth, the color of spring, of renewal and rebirth. All in all, it’s a great colour to associate with creatives, and all we do for a living, abi? And guess what? That’s the name of our space at LFA!
Welcome to The Green Room! We’re based at No. 30 Community Road, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos. The entire space is painted varying shades of green, and is totally empty. It is what you make of it, whenever!
I’ve sat in there working on my own, we’ve held multiple classes; we’ve done photo and video shoots, we’ve had table reads, strategy sessions, workshops, all sorts. My point is, LFA Fam, here’s a space for you! You can come to, too! Just contact us and we’ll talk.
More than that though, the Green Room is a philosophy that LFA will always have. We have said it and will continue to, we want to be a safe space for all Nigerian creatives. Normally it’s every guy or girl for himself or herself. O-Y-O behaviour.
Why did we set up LFA? Well I grew up on studio sets, my mum is Amaka Igwe. I am a young lawyer and creative, excited about people, infrastructure development and facilitating great things. My Founder is Chris Ihidero, lol check his credentials.
Also, we teach! Education is so important to both of us. And education is more than film school and certificates. I feel people are their own best teachers, and what we all need is support and community to be the best we can be. Hence, LFA.
I’m not the most social media savvy person, you can see my scanty pages on IG and Twitter. But I am determined to keep pushing, and we’re building our website too! So ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Green Room! It is all about all of us.
It’s not just myself and Mr. Ihidero. We are an Academy, and we have a floating faculty! Friends of LFA at all points of their careers, always available to share. Fellow creatives, grinding and willing to share. We have a community, and its right here.
Please follow us on Instagram and Twitter. E-mail. Call. Join the conversation. There’s so much ahead for the creative industries, and we’re determined to make sure every serious creative is enabled to succeed one way or another via LFA.
I am so excited to engage with all of you! We need all the help we can get, and I’m sure each of you has something special to offer. Social media advice, networks, you name it! We’re a non profit, all of this is impact-driven. So hit us up!
Next week we’ll talk a bit more about LFA, and the creative industries.
We’re chasing equity for all of us!
Have an epic weekend! Stay safe! And please, fill this survey! You could win some cash!
Best wishes,
Ruby
